TGIF

Just spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out why the music coming off my USB turntable wasn't being recorded in stereo. Unfortunately I realized one of the settings was set for mono - I think this is a result of getting a new computer, and it sucks because it means the 3 or 4 albums I recorded last week are all mono. And I recorded 2 today, so I'm re-recording those now. Good times.

I'm getting impatient, so now I'm actually going to try to record these at 45rpm and convert to 33 1/3. We'll see how that goes.

Currently recording: Metallica - Ride the Lightning (the Metallica phase lives on, though I haven't listened to this one at all, so I don't know for sure that I'm still obsessed)
Recorded earlier but will probably re-record: Mudhoney - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge

Things I bought at Amoeba last weekend:
Metallica - Ride the Lightning (recent re-release)
Metallica - Master of Puppets (ditto, but this one is warped. Ugh)
Devotchka - A Mad & Faithful Telling
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound (not sure why I bought this, as I have no affinity for Genesis, but it was in great condition. Listened to side one and wasn't exactly enthralled...)
Rufus Wainwright - Rufus Wainwright (finally released on vinyl...now they just need to release Poses)
Black Mountain - In the Future
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
U2 - The Fly (12")
Jens Lekman - When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog
XTC - Apple Venus singles (this was $2.99!!!!! for 13 7-inches!!!! That's what she said!!!)

Sunday night is the Radiohead show at the Hollywood Bowl. Enough said

new design

Major renovations to the blog, and by major I mean I actually changed the colors. Also added some links on the sidebar. Crazy, crazy stuff

Listening in the car: Smashing Pumpkins - Rotten Apples

Recent discovery: I can't get into Adore or anything after all that much. It's OK but the first 2 albums and 3/4 (2/3?) of Mellon Collie just seem infinitely better.

Haven't listened to much else lately - too busy at work. Also haven't been to a show in what seems like ages, but I guess I did see Wolf Parade in mid-July. Radiohead is in a few weeks. So I got that going for me.

Hope to return with actual content sometime soon...
